The Pastor:

Pastor Richard Wesley Scott;

          Pastor Rick was born again Oct 19, 1972 at a Youth Ranch meeting in Morrow Georgia; a ministry of Florida Bible College in Hollywood Beach, Florida.

          God began to work on his heart to enter the ministry in 2001.  He surrendered to God's call in 2003 after insuring that it was God's calling for his life, and the need and burden for Bible believing churches he saw as he traveled and worked as a painting contractor across  America.

Pastor Rick attended the Believers Institute for Biblical Studies, a ministry of Northside Baptist Church in Gaffney, South Carolina, where he received a B.A. in Biblical Studies in 2006.

                   In 2008 he and Karin (his wife) moved to Sante Fe, New Mexico, and joined Temple Baptist Church from which they attempted to plant a Baptist church in Madrid, New Mexico (a small town of 120 people).  After almost two years, Madrid rejected (for the fifth time) the idea of having a church of any kind in the town.  He then became an unpaid staff member of Temple Baptist Church, preaching when the pastor was away, and teaching the Adult Sunday School class.

                   In 2011 he became a candidate for the pastorate of Landmark Baptist Church, Walsenburg, Colorado.  On May 10, 2011 the congregation voted for him to become their pastor.  He was the pastor there until Dec 15, 2013.

                     On Dec 15, 2013 he became the pastor of Berean Baptist Church.  He is currently starting his second year in service to the Lord as Pastor at Berean Baptist Church.

Our Deacons:

   Bro John Leamer

           Brother  John has been married to his wife Jodie for 22 years.  He has lived in the Dubois area and Sykesville for the past 15 years.  He has three children Jacob, Kaitlyn, and Rian all who attend and are members of the church.

                  After many years of searching for a church to call home he had been invited to come to Narrows Creek Church where the former pastor of Berean Baptist Church was preaching at the time.  He joined Berean Baptist Church shortly after its founding and has been a faithful servant to the Lord and to the Pastor.  Brother John has completed One on One Discipleship and has been active in leading this ministry since completion

                 Brother John graduated from University of Phoenix with an Associates degree in Information Technologies/ Computer Programming.  As well as One to One Discipleship, Bro John loves shooting, hunting, camping, and many other outdoor activities, is an advid reader, and does enjoy to play computer games.

                  Brother John is more than willing to aid and assist the pastor.  He is also willing to assist members of the congregation with finding answers to questions.   He also tries to make visitors feel at home and will take the time to answer questions posed to him about the Doctrine of Berean Baptist Church.

                  Because we are a small congregation, we only have need for one deacon at this time.  Hoowever as we grow the need for qualified and able bodied men of God to fulfill this vital leadership role will be addressed

                          Here at Berean Baptist Church the Lord has brought together and united us in a bond of love, and the banner of Christ.  Different people from different parts of the local area.  A diversified group of individuals and families, from many different walks of life, meeting together in love and harmony.

                         Berean Baptist Church is a Fundamental, Independent, King James Bible only Baptist Church.  We are a unique place where we believe in loving the unlovable, touching the untouchable, and reaching the unreachable.  A place where you will find a smile, a hand to shake, and a warm welcome upon your visit.... A place that you might want to make your home church.

                        God is growing Berean Baptist as he sees fit to and we continue to accept his will in our growth. From a church that officially started with just 7 members we have grown to a membership of 16.  We are starting our fourth year as a church.  We are  actively involved in missions both in the U.S.A. and overseas.  We support ministry activities that include short term missionary teams, evangelism, discipleship, church planting, Pastoral training, literacy projects, youth camping activities, and Bible distribution to name a few.

                          We are commited to fulfilling God's Biblical mandate to make disciples (II Timothy 2:2).  We believe the local church is the instrument best to accomplish this mission.  Through One to One Discipleship, individuals will be established in the Word of God, the fellowship of believers, the ministry of the local church and ultimately the ministry of Jesus Christ (making disciples).

                          We have currently been given the use of Bethel Union Church in Helvetia, Pa to conduct services in.  We say thanks to the owner of the church building and grounds.  With this move we will be able to conduct services on a more permanent basis, expanding our services to three a week which would have cost us much more in building rental.  We are having services in the basement for the winter months until we can resolve the heating issues in the sanctuary.  With this move we are able to provide a comfortable for all to enjoy.   Feel free to come check out what we have been able to do by the grace and blessings of God.
